Giby is a small village in Sejny county,
Podlaskie voivodeship and north-eastern Poland, close to the borders with
Belarus and Lithuania. There is the Marycha river and two lakes they are called
Gieret and Pomorze. There's also a few nature reserves in Giby and around:

Łempis

Pomorze:
Pomorze reserve is located behind the
village Giby in Forestry Management Pomorze. It was created thirty-one years
ago. Total area of this reserve is more than 20 hectares. There are beavers
which are under the protection now because few years ago their population was
very small. Besides these unusual animals there are also very big and the
oldest trees in the Primeval Forest.
Tobolinka:
Tobolinka nature reserve was created fifty-five years ago to keep that
object in good form. This reserve includes dystrophic lake called Tobolinka and
some marshlands. Area of lake is more than four hectares. Under the influence
of water peatlands break off from the edge and float on the water. There are
many plants and also beavers under the protection.
Łempis:
This reserve is located 3 kilometers south of Berżniki village. Area
of this reserve includes three dystrophic lakes and surrounding forest. There's
not many water plants. Łempis nature reserve was created in 1983 in the total
area 126 hectares. Most of this place takes forest and plants.
Kukle
This reserve includes forest and fragment
of the Marycha river. Nature reserve is located in forestry Budwieć. It was
created in 1983 to protect old trees, marshlands and dystrophic lakes. Total
area of this place is 313 hectares. There's also many animals like beavers and
otters.
